The Charleville musket was a .69 caliber standard French infantry musket used in the 18th and 19th centuries. It was made in 1717 and was last produced during the 1840s. However, it still saw limited use in conflicts through the mid-19th century

The invention of the wheellock in Europe can be placed at about 1500. There is a vocal group of scholars who believe Leonardo da Vinci was the inventor. Drawings made by Leonardo of a wheellock mechanism date (depending on the authority) from either the mid-1490s or the first decade of the 16th century. However, a drawing from a book of German inventions (dated 1505) and a 1507 reference to the...

Thanks for putting up with the cold because I know all too well about shooting in those conditions. Pretty good Shootin I’d say in spite of it all and Clifton Hicks in the background was a Lovely touch I must say! Many Blessings! Almost forgot, I do have a rifle like it and wondered how those bullets would preform. DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
Thank you, Good job. I'm expecting delivery of mine in about a week, patently waiting like a kid waiting for Christmas.
History is good but you guys crack me up,,,,two thumbs up
lol thanks for watching
Also, Once Upon A Time In The West is good too, just a bit too long.
The Good the Bad and the Ugly is the best spaghetti western of all time, and For A Few Dollars More is a very close second.
I like Brannigan and McQ
Enjoyed the show last night thanks
Thankyou for watching
Thankyou for watching
Thank you for all of your videos about the Charleville muskets. I started reenacting last year and purchases a replica 1717 Char. This past weekend, I broke the ramrod. Do you know where I can find a replacement ramrod from an online retailer? Thanks! :)
Does Dixie gun works still make any?
I dont think they make any
Not new,use magazine pages.
It's a fascinating firearm. Love to handle one someday.
What shoulder holster are you using?
Que maravilha, história é vida! Belíssimo vídeo parabéns ao colecionador @real11bangbang
I was curious what type of media you are using while milling your powder? I've been using lead round ball for milling my cannon powder. It's not bad for making noise, but it's dirty behind a bullet in my rifle
Freedom Arms model 97 will handle that load, and the F/A model 83 certainly will.
Sometimes you gotta try stuff to find out what you DONT want.
How have I not seen this!!! I've been listening since the early bloody beaver days!!
My father and I have been shooting a broad range of muskets of differing origins for over twenty years, my earliest experiences with muskets were indian flintlocks. I've done a lot of work on indian locks to get good and reliable function, but even with the heaviest charges in the highest round count guns we have never experienced any kind of failure, catastrophic or otherwise, with indian, italian, American, or any other make of gun. Proper maintenance and loading procedure will make any modern made gun last forever.
Facts! A striker fired thingy just wouldn't have helped... 😅
Lol
Ethan with the direction of the paper cartridges do purposely position the spru correctly. You may be right i don’t have a kit laying around to see if they tell you which way the sprue should face. Regardless the sprue is a pia I ended up tumbling the balls it knocks down the sprue. They do look a little out of round but work fine and from what I read the ball distorts during loading anyway. Great video you look great in your outfit wish I could own one! I think I use a slightly smaller ball i buy the kits from paper cartridges. The chrville are wrapped in newspaper print with the print of the Federalist. So much fun. Also the contintals wrapped there cartridge’s a little different from the British but both work flawlessly. Love my Charville to!
That worked!
lol yes it did!
By the manuals? Probably not. On the other hand, the US Army has the term "Field Expedient" for a reason.
I love .45 colt, I have an Ruger old model Vaquero, a Ruger New Model BlackHawk and a Standard Manufacturing all in .45 colt. I also own a Marlin case hardened CBC, Cowboy Competition, JM stamped in .45 colt with a octagon barrel. I believe you could from a Standard Manufacturing single action replica since it's made from 4140 steel and rated for +p loads. But I'd still double-check with the manufacturer first.
At least you're not reviewing a Pedersoli. I've bought four Traditions. Triggers, and locks worked smooth out of the box. Paid $1000 for a Pedersoli Scout. I couldn't pull the trigger.. still can't without setting the set trigger. Why does it rattle back and forth in the stock? Why was the brass all mucked up? Why was all the brass just mucked up with brown not patina, but looked corroded? I didn't know I was buying a kit, or project. The score for me of 5 examples. Traditions 4. Pedersoli -1.
I’m considering a Woodsrunner myself.. But I need to shoot left handed. Can you tell me how it shoulders on the left? Thanks
hammer flinch
Blowing down the barrel has an added benefit, your moist breath helps keep the fouling from hardening. Shooters at the Creedmore matches in the 1800s used blow tubes to get the same effect with black powder Sharps rifles.
I have a CVA just like it, made in USA! I got mine on a trade back in the 90s and I fixed it up. It had a Native design in brass tacks that I removed and inlayed cherry plugs. It’s a 50 and lime yours about 60-70 grains does well. They are Lovely rifles and accurate too! Kind Thanks and Many Blessings! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania p.s. I have a hickory ram rod as well
They are great guns thanks for watching!
Would the Ruger Old Army with a 45colt conversion cylinder be ok for this ammo, i got 1980s ROA
i personaly dont think so as that guns frame may not be up to the task. i wouldnt try it.
I had a c.v.a.mountain rifle, felt great, nicely balanced, it blew up,and nearly killed a friend standing nearby. They're dangerous junk.
Beautiful. However, you may have just made Old Char mad. Poor sucker.
Beautiful work of art ! Thank for sharing this piece of history !
Our pleasure!
I guess my problem with it is that it is in no way historical much less anything like a 'Thunderer' Something that would appeal to someone who simply does not care. I do have several 1873 clones and love them all but this? naaa.
And then we have Gary Cooper using an 1873 Colt Single Action Cavalry .45 in The Seminole War in 1847 movie Distant Drums
lol yes or john wayne in the comancheros with a 92 winchester.... set in the 1840s
Gotta love the Schofield, just can't use any other handgun other than it, even if it is outdated, I just fell in love with it.
The comparison between the replica and the original pocket model at the end is amazing! The original performed so much better I am surprised that the Caps are too small because number 10 caps on my to replicas usually fit tight and I have to kind of cram them on their the smoothness of the original pistol was truly amazing.
Can you fire modern loads through it just fine? cb .22 shorts? There seems to be some disagreement on this, thanks!
I dont think it's the best idea
@@Real11BangBang what did you use then?
Amazing video
Thanks!
Bullshit!!!! Dan Wesson, Colt Anaconda, Texas Longhorn Arms, Seville, Magnum Research BFR, Freedom Arms model 83, Hartford Armory models 1873 and 1890.....every one of them is as strong or stronger than any investment cast Ruger! Ruger makes fine bull strong revolvers but this constantly repeated myth of Ruger only is a farce!
that may be so but the reloading manual only mentions the names i have named in the video therfore those are the only names i will say can handle it.
@@Real11BangBangso the manual lists the 1892 Rossi! And the 1895 Marlin? Seems odd the manual would suggest shooting .45 Colt from a .45/70 model 1895.....
@johncoleman2495 I obviously meant to say 1894. However, if you don't know that you can fire 45 colt from a 45-70 you haven't been around lever actions much.
@@garrettfromsmokeinthewoods a stupid practice at best ....and I have forgotten more about guns than you'll ever know
@johncoleman2495 Allright il call you on that. Name all 12 major variations of the American trapdoor rifle from 1865-1888. Or the 13 major colt percussion revolvers. Il take either. When someone brags They have forgotten more about guns. Then I will ever know.I really have to question their memory lol
Well done! Excellent information.
Thankyou
Thankyou
I have always thought the SKSs were cool. I should have gotten one when they were affordable.
Sorry but I just started into muzzle loading and my first kit is a Kibler Southern Mountain rifle. And I love it! Since then I have run into others that have traditional muzzle loaders and I think we may see it coming back here in Canada? I certainly hope so anyway, I’ll do my part to promote this great tradition.
God bless Davy Crockett and the men at the Alamo and at the minute goliad Trump is the new Davy Crockett of our country of the United States of America
Caught it on replay.
The AKM of its day. Ubiquitous, dead useful, and a cultural staple. I doubt there's an animal in the western hemisphere that hasn't been taken with a NW Trade Fusil.
%100
That's awesome! Congrats man!
Thank you so much 😀
Beautiful country there! Interesting video! Thanks!
Well SHIT! Was my first muzzle loader. Jim Kibler says he’ll make a Hawken kit, but that’s probably many years down the road.
